It’s always a beautiful thing to watch someone’s dream
unfold right before their eyes! This weekend self-proclaimed food enthusiast,
Sasha Laurel, launched the first episode of her web show “Happy Foods 242”.
“From a very young age I was exposed to fine dining. As I
grew older, I continued to do it. Even on my own I would go out and get
something to eat – I just really love food, “she said. Sasha became a bit of a
food guru amongst her family, friends, sorors and co-workers; offering the best
insight into the town’s hottest food spots. “I always sat on the idea of doing
a show because I never had the time, but this year I decided to make time.
Happy Foods 242 is the result of me making that time!”
The first episode of the series kicked off at “Da Glass
Kitchen” on Hawkins Hill. Erika Robinson and her dynamic team willingly stayed
overtime to accommodate the Happy Foods Team! It was truly a delicious
experience being served an array of the restaurant’s “sinful” pancakes (as
described by Erika) to their infamous turkey burger, in which Sasha compared to
the unspeakable joy mentioned in the Bible! Da Glass Kitchen Team pride
themselves in serving up a healthy measure of love to all of their customers.
In fact, Robinson says that’s what separates the restaurant from its
competitors!
The kitchen is also an active advocate for Breast Cancer
Awareness, which hits close to home for Erika Robinson. “One of the things I’ve
recognized as I gained more experience and became older is that through
challenge we recognize our strengths. One of my biggest challenges was dealing
with the death of my father (Thomas Robinson), who died
from breast cancer. I wanted to use his name as a way to educate the Bahamian
men (about breast cancer)”, she explained. They have set a goal to raise $5000
in an effort to assist those who cannot afford treatment. “Da Glass Kitchen”
truly offers an experience unlike any other. From the high spirited staff to
the delicious dishes served saturated in love!
The Happy Foods Team is dedicated and excited to see everything unfold! “I have no doubt in my mind that this show will do well. It has already exceeded my expectations and the demand is overwhelming. The thing is people love food because it makes them happy so it’s a win-win situation for us,” says Sasha.
The team has already started taping the second episode at Mojo’s located just a quarter mile
west of Sandyport. The owners – Joey and Maurisa – gladly welcomed the Happy
Foods242 team into their establishment where they serve southern food with a
Bahamian and gourmet flair. Episode 2 is scheduled to drop this Friday at 12pm! Stay Tuned!
